STV Local website crashes on launch day

Just hours after its launch, online hyperlocal news website STV Local crashed.

On its first day of service, the much anticipated STV Local’s website disappeared from screens just after 12pm, to be replaced by a grey screen for a period of between two and three hours.

The service, which is currently being piloted in test areas including Airdrie, Bellshill, Wishaw and Motherwell, before rolling out across the rest of the country, was launched yesterday by the Scottish broadcaster, but is now back up and running.

It is thought that the problem affected all of the company's website and not STV Local alone.

A spokesperson for STV, explained: "We had an intermittent, temporary disruption to the STV websites yesterday afternoon and are investigating this with our third party hosting provider."

"replaced by a grey screen"

Have you ever used the internet before, I mean you do know the difference between a browser error and a website error don't you?
