Lothian and Borders Police begins theft prevention campaign

Lothian and Borders Police has launched a force-wide theft prevention campaign using the slogan ‘New products, same advice.’

The campaign, which runs until 31 October, has been designed to prevent homeowners becoming relaxed over the basics of preventing home theft ahead of the run up to Christmas.

The campaign will include officers sending out warning letters to prolific offenders informing them that they will be targeted, fast-tracking forensic examination on any homes where thefts have occurred, carrying out door to door visits with homeowners and businesses providing suitable crime prevention advice, targeting individuals and places that may handle stolen goods, such as second-hand markets, to disrupt the resale of stolen goods, setting up ‘business watches’ to look-out for thieves and restorative justice for young people involved in theft.

This is the fourth and final phase of the Force’s 2010 Proactive Prevention Plan, and follows campaigns to combat domestic abuse, environmental damage and violence.

I like it! It's current and the teens will get it.

Except it's not aimed at teens. Apparently it's aimed at homeowners.

"new products -same advice" I'd hardly say an iPod is a new product.
Then again the i headline is hardly a new idea.
