Through its screen-printing off-shoot (Handcooked Posters), Stirling-based graphic designers Baseline exhibited its gig poster work at this year’s Flatstock Europe 5 poster show.

This year’s Flatstock showcased the work of around 30 poster artists from across the UK, USA, Canada and Europe - each presenting their own style and interpretation of limited edition, screen-printed concert posters.

While this form of art/concert promotion and band merchandise is a thriving part of American music culture, elsewhere it is still in its relative infancy - despite the UK having a rich history in psychedelic poster art during the sixties and seventies.

Flatstock Europe is the biggest gig poster art show held outside of the USA, and is presented by the American Poster Institute (API),  a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting poster artists and promoting this form of art to a wider audience.

With the Flatstock events, the API presents the general public with an ongoing series of opportunities to see gig poster art in person, while providing the opportunity to meet the artists behind it.

Each poster artist participating at Flatstock is invited to design & print their own poster for the event, along with producing a print for one of the bands playing at the Reeperbahn Festival.
