Covonia coughs up for TV campaign

Cough remedy brand Covonia is to return to TV screens with a new campaign created by Bray Leino.

The campaign once again features Stan the Covonia Bull, the animated brand mascot created by Bray Leino in 1998, and updated in 2002 to feature the voice of chef Ainsley Harriott.

The live action adverts will be supported by trade media with the campaign retaining core elements of the brand, but also focusing on evolving Covonia, rather than reinventing it.

John Chamberlin, director of consumer marketing at Thornton + Ross, producers of Covonia, said; “For 12 years, Stan the Bull (and Ainsley Harriott’s unique voice) have made ‘Cough Medicine with Clout’ famous and helped Covonia grow to become the second biggest selling cough medicine in the UK’. Our new ads build on everything that helped grow the brand, mixing live action with great CG animation of Stan and a wry touch of humour. We think they’ll have more Clout than ever!”
