The new BrightHouse Christmas TV spot is set to roll out, as it continues to promote the ‘weekly payment’ TV campaign.
Once again created by The Walker Agency, the campaign continued to feature the ‘Mand’ and ‘Jules’ characters who also appear in the brand’s long running sponsorship of Five Australian soap, Home & Away and aims to demonstrate how the store makes everything affordable.
The ad will air until 5 December on ITV, C4, E4, GMTV, Living, Five, and their derivatives and was produced by the Gate Film and directed by Dave Mills.

Shocking ad for an appalling product that preys on the vulnerable at an extremely difficult time of year. You must be very proud.
Yeah those poor wretches forced to march down to the store and sign their names on a contract for a massive TV they really don't need which in BIG letters tells them exactly how much they'll be repaying. Sometimes people need to take a little responsibility for their actions. (I do agree that the ad is shocking though.)
You total snobs.
The interest rates are no more than catalogues or credit cards, both of whom will take you to court in a heartbeat if you miss a payment. Brighthouse micromanage customers payment plans so there is no chance of customers getting into crippling debt. If you can't pay - the goods are simply returned. It is actually a rent to buy model that really suits low income families who don't have access to other forms of credit.
How come its OK for a bank to lend you £300,000 for a mortgage, yet it is immoral for a company to responsibly lend a poorer family £800? Or should only the rich be allowed access to credit?
"a model that really suits low income families who don't have access to other forms of credit" - too broad a concept to debate here but it's all a bit ugly.
These are so bad they ruin Home & Away.

What is really shocking and more than a bit ugly is people in advertising having the audacity to have a go at a company for, in their belief, exploiting others.
You work in advertising your entire job is based around exploiting others, advertising is an essential ingredient to capitalism, it's sole purpose being to make people want things they don't need so a more privileged group can make more money.
Not a single person working in advertising is doing anything* that has as much worth as a toilet cleaner, he or she is performing a useful service to society.
*With the exception of the odd public service campaign as long as it has been produced for no agency profit.
"it's sole purpose being to make people want things they don't need so a more privileged group can make more money."
That is the sole purpose of advertising is it? Really? You actually believe that?
I wonder why you still bother coming to this site, full of "hollow characters" in an industry you seem to detest. Hey- why not become an anonymous toilet cleaner?
By the way, no apostrophe in "it's" please. I hope you're not a writer (I'm not).

Anonymous Creative - what is really shocking is you, calling yourself a creative, and defending this work.
Anonymous 11:50. Yes, it is more irresponsible to lend a poor family £800 than a rich family £300k. It's undefendable, so don't bother.
I'm guessing (and kind of hoping) you were both involved in the campaign in some way. Or at the very least have a client list that features equally unsavoury clients.
Poor ad but I don't quite understand all the indignant & hypocrtical comments about the company / product.
Why not complain about Store Cards, Credit Cards, Loans, Debt Consolidation, Promotion of Alcohol, Promotion of Products that claim to have health benefits but Don't, Promotion of Junk Food dressed up to look appetising by a team of food stylists, the Use of Photo Shop re-touching, Paid for Celeberity Endorsements.....I do believe the advertising industry is involved in all of these..
It's just can't be the one immoral agency that handles all of these accounts is it?
It's all gone very quiet after last post!
