Freak Films in Edinburgh has filmed and post produced the first Stereoscopic 3D Cinema campaign to come out of Scotland, in a campaign for Blair Drummond Safari Park.

The campaign, shot earlier this summer with Blair Drummond Safari Park, features some of the parks wildest animals in their natural habitat, literally larger than life jumping out at the audience.

For the first time the format is able to give the viewer the experience of what being up close and personal with these animals would feel like at the park, encouraging them to take a visit and see what else there is in store.

The campaign is aimed at a family audience and will be in cinemas to promote the park's reopening in 2011.  Park manager Gary Gilmour at Blair Drummond said:  "To take the brand into cinema is exciting for us but we were really excited when FreakFilms suggested we look at 3D cinema. This way the campaign can sit alongside all the big 3D movies and really stand out. We think that families will love the new campaign and can’t wait to see reaction and response figures.“

With the launch of Sky’s 3D channel and 3D screens being available to buy for  home, and the increase in 3D screens in cinema, the options for promoting products in full 3D are widening.

Hamish Allison, creative director and stereographer at Freak Films trained with Inition in London, Buzz Hayes from Sony Pictures and with Bernard Mendiburu and Alain Derobe in Paris. He has also been guest lecturing on 3D around the UK for Universities, Film Festivals and on behalf of Avid Technology.

“We've worked on S3D TV content but not much cinema, so its great to be producing in what is a much more constrained and challenging medium when it comes to 3D. We've worked hard over the last year to establish ourselves as a centre of excellence in Stereo production, and we’re taking it a step further by adding training opportunities in the coming year.”

I think Hamish has a twin brother; he runs Freakworks post production in Edinburgh and is gainfully employed there 50 hours a week. I wish them both well.

His other brother (they must be triplets) is a male model: I remember seeing him on stage for a Mr North East Fife Eligiibilty Man of The Year type thing a few years back. But that model brother is much fitter / wittier than the other 2 brothers. I hope to meet all 3 on late summer's night. Miss V Vixen xx
