This year's Christmas campaign for Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee has begun to roll out, once again created by Family.
The ‘Putting the Magic back into Christmas’ campaign will span TV, radio, press, outdoor and online and follows the centre winning this year’s Shopping Centre of the Year award at the Scottish Retail Excellence awards.
The TV campaign was produced by Plum Films, and includes real puppetry to give the commercial ‘a more traditional’ feel.

Done to death, and much better, by Reid, DFS, Harveys, etc etc etc.
Might have been a good idea to tell the punter just how they were 'putting the magic back into Christmas'.
Tired idea.
I realise this isn't full size, but even so, there's no way you can read that URL if you do want to drive people to the website.
I love the way it truly celebrates visual cliches.
I think it's OK and captures the spirit of Christmas a hell of a lot better than the BJL stuff for the Trafford Centre and McCann's stuff for Liverpool One.
It probably felt like a great idea at the pitch, and a lot of time and effort went in the "real puppetry" – but to little end result for the viewer. In fact I would guess going down that route restricted and compromised the whole shoot as this is all quite bland and so-so.
I like it.
You're all just a bunch of right old moaners.

I feel all Christmassy now. I like this ad. Better than Silverburn nonsense too. I agree with 10.18.
Great bag action and the girl is pretty cute
I think all Harry Potter fans out there will love this!
Anyone who thinks this ad is better than the Trafford Centre or Liverpool One ads is out of their bloody mind.
I presume the original "idea" was that they'd illustrate the "putting magic back into xmas" by having shopping bags dancing but sadly that's been completely lost with the horrendous direction and shoestring budget. Nothing actually happens in this ad.
Does hanging bags on wire from the ceiling and spinning them around count as puppetry nowadays?
Its a bit of a mystery why some poeple get so hung up on a tv commercial, sure the budget looks tight and sure you could argue its not perfect
But would it not be a better idea to offer feedback from a positive perspective rather than harsh negative comments given the condition of the current marketplace
And I do think Harry Potter Fans will love it too !
that truly is appalling - a real shame considering the campaign last year was brilliant.
Could have been better but they've kept it simple and it works better than those half-cocked dance routines for all the other shopping centres.
