The Scottish Government has implemented its cold snap campaign to help Scots become better prepared for winter weather.

The campaign, featuring radio ads by The Leith Agency, PR being delivered by the Scottish Government’s in-house team, and media planning and buying by MediaCom Scotland, offers Scots practical advice as severe winter weather grips the country.

The three radio adverts are fronted by actress Elaine C Smith (pictured), with advice on road safety, keeping wam and how to look out for each other as temperature drops.

Also featured within the campaign is the Scottish Government’s Home Energy Hotline, which offers information and advice on saving money, keeping warm and making homes more energy efficient.

The campaign is being broadcast across Scotland on both local and community radio stations, where over 2 million people will have the opportunity to hear the ads over the course of the next week.

They will air initially for one week with the option to extend depending on the severity of the weather situation. The ads direct people to the Scottish Government site for more in depth advice.

The adverts have been recycled from the winter campaign 2009/2010.
