Rumours are circulating that Robson Brown has been acquired by a London-based marketing company, and not the previous directors of the company, as announced last week.
Apparently, the as yet-unnamed company (speculated to be ThinkBDW, part of Think Media) has agreed to buy what remains of the client list of the long established Newcastle agency, meaning that the announced acquisition by former Robson Brown directors Andrew Marwick, Tom Hedley and Duncan McEwan, cannot take place.
“Our commitment to excellent marketing communications remains at the top of our agenda and the outlook for Robson Brown going forward looks positive and we are excited about putting this whole experience behind us and getting back to what we do well for our clients,” said CEO Andrew Marwick as part of a statement announcing the resurrection of the agency last week.
Following this statement, administrators Zolfo Cooper denied that any such deal had been made.
Robson Brown was placed into administration a fortnight ago, as part of parent company Round 2 UK Group, which included Attinger Jack and AW Communications.
A week later, Zolfo Cooper announced that it had no choice but to close Robson Brown, seeing no possibility of a sale, while Attinger Jack and AW Communications were bought out by senior management at each company.
The Drum was waiting on a statement from Zolfo Cooper at the time of writing.
