Glasgow City Marketing Bureau ramps up spend on Christmas campaign to aid city business

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) is to invest an additional £50,000 into its Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign to encourage Christmas shoppers back to the city’s shops, restaurants and bars following the recent severe weather conditions in Scotland.

The bureau will increase marketing spend on the TV, radio and online campaign to £225,000, having recorded a 20% dip in visitor spend in recent weeks due to the severe winter weather.

Glasgow Loves Christmas aims to promote the city’s Style Mile and has been developed by Glasgow City Council in Partnership with GCMB, with the TV ad developed by STV Creative, the general creative theme handled by D8 and PR from 3X1.

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, explained: “Our decision to increase our advertising for the Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign demonstrates the swiftness of our response to address the needs of our local businesses and will ensure footfall in the city centre is maximised.”
