The future CEO of creative development body Vision+Media, Paul Taylor, has lauded the announcement that ITV and flagship programme Coronation Street are to move to MediaCityUK.

Taylor described the announcement as 'great news' for the region that ITV had decided to invest in the future of Coronation Street as well as widen its production base in the region.

"I hope that we will see with the opening of BBC North next year a serious re-engagement by ITV with the talent of the North West which has served it so well both creatively and commercially since Granada first launched," added Taylor who will take over in the role of CEO from Alice Morrison on 11 January.

It is expected that ITV will take up several floors in the Orange Tower of MediaCityUK with ITV's Granada news bulletins also broadcasting from there.

The BBC has already begun to prepare to move many of its departments including children's programming to the new Salford base.
