The Drum seeks your top fictional brand ambassadors

The Drum seeks your top fictional brand ambassadorsThe Drum seeks your top fictional brand ambassadors

The Drum is on the hunt for our readers favourite fictional brand ambassador. This could be a childhood favourite such as The Milky Bar Kid, or a more recent arrival such as Aleksandr Orlov the Meerkat, just so long as they’ve lingered in your head longer than any 30sec advert has a right to.

We’ve assembled a motley collection of 19 artificial creations for our online poll, ranging from the simple, such as slapping a pair of oversized cartoon eyes on the product you wish to flog, see the M&M’s. To more elaborate creations such as the tyred and tested Michelin Man.

A catchphrase is of course a useful tool to reinforce the message, cue Tony the Tiger’s “They’re Grrreat,” or Coco’s: “I’d rather have a bowl of Coco Pops,” but whose message hits the right note?

Such improbable mascots tend to be far more animated than their flesh and blood rivals and less inclined to fire into a strop, grow old, or go on strike, meaning they are likely to remain a key weapon in any advertiser’s armoury.

Make your opinion heard and get voting, Monkey and co are counting on it.
