Greggs invites pasty fans to sing for their supper

Greggs is getting into the festive spirit with the release of a timely e-Christmas card.

The musical ensemble is the product of a contest devised by Digital agency Steel which invited budding songwriters to compose and submit a themed Christmas song via the bakers Facebook page.

The only rules were that the lyrics must be written to the tune of a famous Christmas carol and this has been taken to heart with such lines as: “Hark the Greggs customers sing… glory to the pastry king.”

Five lucky entrants will also receive one free Greggs lunch every week for a year.

Greggs hit TV screens last February in a £4m campaign by Gratterpalm which featured the classic 1950 Eileen Barton song “If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d’ve Baked a Cake.
