McCann Manchester has hired Meteorite's head of digital, Marcus Hadfield, as group director.

Hadfield had been at the London agency since 2006 and was responsible for "digital strategy, campaigns and structure". Before moving to Meteorite he worked for Omnicom-owned agency Alcone.

“My role will be to further develop our interactive offer, ensuring that digital is at the heart of new integrated opportunities for all our clients," Hadfield said.

McCann Manchester chief executive, Sue Little, said the agency has "ambitious plans for growth in 2011" and investing in digital would "reap rewards for us this year".

"For us the focus is about delivering integrated communication with digital expertise built into our offering at every stage and Marcus’s appointment reflects this approach," Little said.

According to McCanns, Hadfield is the tenth appointment to its integrated digital team in the last 12 months.
