The Advertising Association has commended the Advertising Standards Authority as it launches a campaign to raise awareness of its impending online governing of online marketing from 1 March.

The ASA has launched the multi-platform campaign to raise awareness of its expanding remit from March that will see it extend its governing of UK advertising to include commercial websites.

Created on a pro-bono basis by AMV BBDO, with media planning by OMD UK, the campaign will run across press, radio, online and outdoor.

Ian Barber, director of communications for the Advertising Association (pictured), said: “Consumers expect ads on company web-sites to adhere to the same rules as those elsewhere – the same goes for the likes of Facebook and Twitter.  The industry already works within the spirit of the codes and this campaign can only push standards higher.  It’s another example of advertising’s commitment to maintaining, and funding, its own rigorous standards.”

The campaign will begin 17 January and run until 27 February.
