Scottish Government campaign promotes benefits of breastfeeding

A new campaign aiming to encourage women to breastfeed has been launched by The Scottish Government this week.

Created by The Union, the campaign combines television, poster advertising and online, and aims to encourage women to recognise breastfeeding as being best for them and their baby.

The website, created by Whitespace, also provides information and support about breastfeeding, supported by PR activity by the Scottish Government’s in-house team.

The advertising campaign will run for a period of five weeks.

Meanwhile a study released earlier this week by the University College London's Institute of Child Health contradicted Government advice that is is best to exclusively breast feed babies for the first six months. It found such an exclusive regime could be detrimental to a baby's health.
