Newsquest Herald & Times Group is set to develop ‘a new unit’ as it aims to develop its online brands, including heralscotland.com and the website of the Evening Times.

The Glasgow publisher is currently advertising for an assistant digital editor to join its team, with the aim of creating content for its online platform to grow its audiences.

The publisher has been in dispute with the National Union of Journalists following recent compulsory redundancies being made, the latest in a series of redundancy rounds to be made in recent years.

It is understood that the publishers online brand S1, which includes S1jobs, S1homes and S1play has been unaffected by the newspaper division’s online plans.
