STV has appointed Shaun Milne as regional editor for Edinburgh as it prepares to launch a new hyper-local website for the Scottish capital.

The broadcaster already runs 16 STV Local websites for communities in Scotland, each providing news, event listings and traffic information. Milne will be responsible for the content of the Edinburgh site, due to launch later this month.

Milne joins STV from news agency Deadline News, where he was consulting managing editor. Before that he co-owned Planet Ink, was associate news editor at the Daily Record and assistant editor at the Scottish Daily Mirror.

Alistair Brown, head of digital at STV, said: “Shaun has a strong background in news delivery and digital media and is a great fit for the expanding STV Local team. I look forward to welcoming him on board for the upcoming Edinburgh launch."

Milne will take up his new role on 7 February.
