Google has plans to launch a new paid-for enterprise level analytics tool, according to sources, which will take on Adobe's Omniture and IBM's CoreMetrics products.

Analytics is an expanding business with more and more advertisers prepared to invent to better understand a customers journey. Some such products can command fees of up to £10,000 a month and create other opportunities for providers to sell consultancy and support services.

At the moment Google only offers a basic paid-for analytics package branded as Urchin, but is expected to launch its now premium product this year.

"We are always looking at ways to improve our Analytics offering but have nothing new to announce at this stage," a Google spokesman was reported as saying.

It's about time too! Customer Journey is the one thing missing from an otherwise great analytics package.
