The first project by the newly opened Scottish office of Illumina Digital has begun for music and volunteering organisation RockCorps.
Illumina Scotland, currently on the recruitment trail for its Glasgow office, has been chosen to develop an online infrastructure which will enable the organisation to co-ordinate and manage its volunteers and project internationally.
The platform will launch in the UK and France in Spring, before rolling out internationally later in the year.
Andrew Chitty, Managing Director of Illumina Digital said: “There’s a fantastic talent base here and with both Broadcasters and the Scottish Government committed to developing the Scottish digital media sector, now is the right time for Illumina to exploit these opportunities bringing world class partners like RockCorps to Scotland.”
He continued to explain that Illumina’s future strategy would be to develop platforms for its partners which would enable it to ‘communicate, entertain, inform and transact’ with its audience across online, mobile and connected TVs.
“We’ve already done that for our partners Maverick with NHSLocal but for RockCorps we’re creating a platform to connect with audiences not only in the UK but internationally,” he added.
Grady Lee, co-founder and COO of RockCorps said; “Here in the UK, Orange RockCorps continues to expand to reach a generation of volunteers and we need a system that will ensure speed and ease as we fulfil our mission. We are also moving in to new territories and Illumina’s solution has the flexibility to grow, as we grow, effortlessly.”
Caroline Parkinson, director of Creative Development for Creative Scotland praised the ‘significant investment’ being made Illumina in Scotland, as it creates a number of sustainable jobs within the digital media sector.
Illumina Digital was established in London in 1998, working with the BBC, Channel 4, ITV.com, NHS and The National Archives.
