British Airways’ head of global marketing Dr Kerris Bright is set to leave the company to join bathroom retailer Ideal Standard International.

Bright, who joined the airline in 2008 from AkzoNobel Decorative Paints where she was chief marketing office, oversaw the development of the new marketing strategy and brand position for the company.

She will take on the role of CMO at Ideal Standard International, and also become a member of its executive leadership team, and will oversee the development of the brand and reputation as it expands across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Working closely in the general management of Ideal Standard International, Bright will also work alongside the commercial and product division in a bid to increase the market share and profitability of the business.

Bright commented: “There is clearly an opportunity for Ideal Standard International to become a market leading performer in what is a highly competitive and tough market sector.  The company has ambitious growth plans in which the marketing function will play a critical and central role.

“I have enjoyed my time at British Airways and I will miss my colleagues and team, but the chance to join Ideal Standard International’s high calibre leadership team and take a close and active role in the day to day development of a company with the potential to be a global brand leader is simply too good an opportunity to miss.”

Frank van der Post, managing director of brands and customer experience at British Airways, said: “It is with great regret that we have accepted Kerris’s resignation. During her time at BA, Kerris has re-developed the marketing strategy and brand position, leaving a legacy that we can build upon. We recognise that this is a wonderful opportunity for her. We wish her every success in the future and thank her for her contribution.”

David Hamill, Ideal Standard International’s chairman and CEO, added: “There is enormous capacity in our industry for leadership and innovation, which is why we need someone of Kerris’s exceptional capability, experience and vision.

“Kerris will, in her role as CMO, be a key member of a small executive leadership team giving her a broader, collective responsibility in shaping the company and delivering value," she added.

Bright is expected to take up her new role in the Spring.
