Coronation Street has been given the green light from council officials to move from central Manchester to MediaCityUK at Salford Quays.

Earlier this week it looked like the move might be derailed after Hovis complained about having to live next door to Coronation Street, its HQ neighbouring the proposed new set.

The bakery challenged the plans on noise and access grounds but it revoked its objection ahead of a planning meeting held by Trafford Council last night.

Work can now get underway to build a new Coronation Street after the planning committee gathering approved the plans last night.
