The Commonwealth Games 2014 Organising Committee is set to expand its communications team in the coming months, with five new roles being created.

The committee, based in Glasgow City Centre, is set to begin recruitment for various roles, thought to be around 20, across the whole organisation, with five being created in communications, including two press officers and an intern communications role.

An editorial role will also be recruited, with the responsibility of creating content for the committee’s various communications platforms, as well as working with its stakeholders and commercial partners in writing content for them around the Games. This role will also see the successful candidate charged with planning and creating presentations for the committee.

Finally, a Government relations role will also be established, including responsibilities of co-ordinating and engaging Scottish MSPs, councilors and Westminster Politicians.

It is understood that these role will be advertised across the UK from next week, although the internship advert was released last week.

Meanwhile, to promote its Sport Your Trainers day which takes place next month as part of the Committee’s bid to engage with people, a giant inflatable trainer similar to the emblem of the campaign is being used.

The inflatable trainer was unveiled at activity involving two pipers who were involved in the Delhi 2010 Handover Ceremony in an effort to highlight the forthcoming awareness day.
