Charlie Sheen pulls in 910,000 Twitter followers in just one day

'You can't keep a good man down' seems to be the message Charlie is tweeting to CBS

Sheen, star of top US sitcom Two and a Half Men, was so popular he could make real money from Twitter, said Arnie Gullov-Singh, the chief executive of Ad.ly - a Hollywood firm that writes messages on Facebook or Twitter for celebrities who endorse products for a fee.

Sheen has been getting enormous media coverage because the show has been put on hold by CBS , "based on the totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition," according to the network.

Gullov-Singh said brands lined up to advertise on the TV show because of its reach. "They'll do the same with celebrities like Charlie because of who he reaches.

"I've never seen growth like this before. But, then again, he's the guy who's had the No. 1 show on television for the last sevenyears."

This week, Sheen has appeared on every major channel in the U.S. to tell his side of the story .

Some critics called the interviews a "public meltdown," so Sheen took to Twitter to reach his fans directly. A friend of Sheen's called Ad.ly, for help with that , said Gullov-Singh.

"Our guys sat down with Charlie for a couple hours and gave him the 101 on how to do it," he told the LA Times. Ad.ly called Twitter and got Sheen the @CharlieSheen user name, which had been used by an impostor.
