New Question Time editors announcedNew Question Time editors announced

Nicolai Gentchev, editor of The Today Programme on Radio 4 has been named as the editor of Question Time ahead of its move to Glasgow later this year.

Gentchev a gradate of Glasgow University who worked with Good Morning Scotland last year during the general election, will be joined by Hayley Valentine, former head of news at Radio Five Live as executive editor.

Valentine will join Gentchev, who is already based at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, having studied at Edinburgh University, going on to work in Newspapers in Dundee and then work at Scottish Television and BBC Scotland.

Helen Boaden, director of new for the BBC, commented: "Question Time has an outstanding new team to lead it. Nicolai and Hayley have a great depth of experience in the political institutions across the UK. They will ensure that one of the BBC's most important programmes goes from strength to strength."

The relocation of the programme to Glasgow has been criticised by many from within the programme, including longstanding presenter David Dimbleby who has said that he feels a political show in the UK should be based near Westminster, in London in order to gain access to UK politicians.

Question Time’s move is part of the BBC’s strategy to grow its regional production levels over the coming years.
