Burger King chief executive Bernardo Hees will be causing his UK PR consultants a headache this morning having described English woman as being ugly and slating UK food.
The fast-food company boss was addressing students in Chicago, and was discussing his time studying at the University of Warwick when he claimed: "The food is terrible and the women are not very attractive."
Burger King has since moved to distance itself from the comments, with a spokesperson responding with the statement:
"Mr Hees apologises if his comment has offended anyone. It was intended as a humorous anecdote to connect with his audience."
Hees has been in the role for around six months.

I've been to Warwick, pretty accurate reporting.
Boss of Burger King describing UK food as terrible is a bit rich.

He probably thinks British women are too skinny. But his company is bravely fighting to rectify that.
Ref. anon 8.34 Been to Warwick or the University? The Uni is in Coventry, but being a clever dick, he / she will already know that.
He will be a good judge of women as an expert on Whoppas. His judgement on the quality of UK food must be respected too; Burger King is surely a leader in quality. Yum yum.
Maybe the BK in Warwick nuked his burger for a full 3 seconds longer than the corporate guidelines and he couldn't come to terms with the improved taste (not that there was any taste to start with), plus the waitress hadn't taken his order at the drive through with the typical heavy breathing of her obese american counterpart.
Sounds pretty accurate to me... It seems like birds use Homer Simpson shotgun treatment with regularity and the fat that rips from every crease... shocking. England is the fattest country in Europe, by a good margin. Lucky Mr. Hees wasn't going to uni at Newcastle!

For the record I like Burger King.
