The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) has tasked Burt Greener Communications with handling its PR and partnership marketing campaign.

The Edinburgh-agency was appointed following a six-way-pitch, and has been tasked with handling the management of the media relations programme, as well as city engagement and press office activity in the run up to the festival, taking place in June.

Burt Greener will also provide support for the Centre for the Moving Image (CMI), which is the parent company of EIFF, Edinburgh Filmhouse and Film Guild, which act as a national hub for moving-image activity in Scotland.

James Mullighan, director of the EIFF, commented: “In 2011, EIFF will create an explosion of film-related activity that will see exciting screenings and events taking place across the capital. With this new strategy in place, we wanted to work in partnership with an agency that combines experience with a fresh and creative approach. Burt Greener proved to be the right agency for the job and we are looking forward to working with the team.”

Meanwhile, Gavin Miller, CEO of the Centre for Moving Image added: “The CMI is committed to investing in talent, place and people in Scotland and therefore it’s only fitting for us to appoint a Scottish PR agency for this challenging role. Burt Greener is a locally placed agency yet is connected nationally and internationally and we look forward to working with them in what will be an exciting year.”

The EIFF will take place between 15-26 June, and will showcase a range of films across many genres.
