The BBC is offering employees relocating from London a full day’s training to help them acclimatise with transport systems in the North West.
As reported by The Telegraph, employees will learn about parking and cycling provisions, the Metrolink system and local bus services.
The programme will also allow staff to drop-in and learn about the Salford area and gain knowledge from local "experts".
Sessions have already taken place in London, and the BBC have said the programme has been well attended.
A BBC spokesman said: "As with any large-scale relocation, providing people who are moving with information about local transport and infrastructure is standard practice to ensure that they have the most relevant and up-to-date information so that they can effectively and efficiently plan their travel arrangements.”
According to The Telegraph, the internal programme cost nothing to put together and local experts who travelled to London for the sessions were unpaid.

And we wonder where our taxes go - what an absolute chuffing waste of money! Surely the BBC staff can find bus routes, train timetables, car parks...like the rest of us. Is there a 'how to cross the road safely' training session too? As it's Friday, I'd like to open up the forum for suggestions on other training sessions we could offer BBC staff........
How to pine for home
How to smile on the fucking train (actually we all need to go on that one)
Probably need to go on a course on how to wipe there backsides!
I find it difficult to know what program i am watching since the same actors are in every program these days, you really cant take the BBC all that seriously!
How to avoid the real Salfordian welcome to strangers!
How to eat pie and chips
Pathetic waste of money.
Bearing in mind many Londoners still think that 'up north' we live in families of 18 in 2 up 2 down back to backs, and eat our young (in a pie of course) and that the trains still run on steam, it is fully understandable that they would put this kind of programme on.
My family and I can't wait for these southern jessies to get up here - it will certainly cut down on our weekly food bill at Lidl. Although I've heard that Londoners taste a bit like wild rabbit - all stringy and boney.
The BBC run the same courses for their over-seas postings. It's a bit rich to be treating Salford like a foreign posting. Don't the staff feel patronised by this or are they on-board with it and feel like missionaries? Doesn't bode well for the natives.
