STV has today launched new hyperlocal community websites for Peterhead and Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire.

The broadcaster now has 21 'STV Local' websites - providing news, reviews and other local information - for towns and cities across Scotland.

It started its STV Local mission last September and plans to have a network of local websites covering the whole of Scotland in the next 18 months.

The new sites in Peterhead and Fraserburgh will be overseen by community editor, Dionne Abolghessem, who will be working closely with regional editor for the North East, Kris Gilmartin.

David Milne, executive editor of STV Local, said: "The positive response and level of engagement from local communities so far shows that there is a real appetite for local news and information, and through STV Local we’re bringing people the best possible content about what’s happening on their doorstep.”
