USA Today is to become one of the first print publications to introduce a payment system for writers based on number of clicks.

Reports on mashable suggest that the paper will be following the example set by blogs and pay writers based on pageviews via  anew bonus system.

It will see the paper more accurately track specific traffic on its websites in order to find which stories (and writers) are bringing home the bacon.

Ed Cassidy, USA Today‘s vice president of communications and event marketing, told Mashable: “USA TODAY has and continues to consider bonuses based on page views but nothing has been decided at this time.”
