Hoffman spoof set to become YouTube hit

A spoof dub of Sky Atlantic’s Dustin Hoffman fronted promo has appeared on YouTube, supplanting the veteran actor’s American drawl for a Scottish twang, subverting the ads focus from “stories” to “stovies”, a Scots meat dish, in the process.

In the lip synched re-make Hoffman utters: “Stovies, we all spend our lives eating them, with chips, with peas, and gravy too. But some - some stovies are so good, we wish they’d never end.

”They’re so filling that we go without sleep just to eat a little bit more. Some stovies are made with sausages and washed down with beers.

”But isn’t that what great stovies do? Make you full? Stovies that are so tasty, they really are delicious forever."

The clincher comes in the closing seconds of the ad however as Hoffman surveys the New York skyline wistfully, to which the narrator intones: “I think I’ll get some ice cream for pudding.”

It's brilliant. Who did it? Up there with the Glaswegian Dolmio spoofs.
