The ITV2 programme, which recorded its highest rating on Wednesday with 1.3million viewers, featured Belo in its pilot episode.
Now the winner of the 2007 series of Big Brother is set to sue his former manager and the show’s makers Lime Productions for lost earnings, claiming that they have stolen his idea.
According to The Sun, Belo is understood to be claiming that he originally devised the concept of an Essex version of The Hills.
Lime Productions has said that it has yet to receive any comment from Belo, while ITV has not yet commented.
