The 32nd Scottish Press Awards saw The Scottish Daily Mail named as newspaper of the year.

The newspaper was awarded by the judges who said that the title was able to blend Scottish and national news together ‘extremely well’ while also offering readers ‘staggeringly good’ feature writers, ‘unparalleled’ women’s writing, and ‘the best sports coverage’ of any newspaper in Scotland.

The newspaper picked up the award for Front Page of the Year for ‘Going Nowhere’ and Feature Writer of the Year handed to Jonathan Brocklebank.

Meanwhile, Jeff Mitchell from Getty Images won News photographer of the Year, Brian Beacom from The Herald was awarded Entertainment Journalist of the Year, The Highland News won Weekly Newspaper of the Year, Melanie Reid from The Times Scotland was the winner of Columnist of the Year as well as Journalist of the Year.

Reporter of the Year was Mark Mccaskill from The Sunday Times.

Meanwhile, a Lifetime Achievement award was given to the former editor of The Press & Journal , Derek Tucker for his contribution to Scottish journalism.
