American based discourse of the upcoming marriage of Prince William and Catharine Middleton is now outstripping such natter in the UK, according to Nielsen.
The web analytics service has been analysing the social media “buzz” surrounding the event in the US, UK and Australia since the couple first announced their engagement.
The researchers noted that whilst in the UK the biggest generators of wedding content were digital forums such as Twitter, blogs and Facebook in the US the reverse was true with traditional media leading the way.
Overall the survey found that Royal wedding news coverage peaked in Australia at 0.1, shortly after the engagement was announced, the respective figures for the UK and US were 0.2 and 0.3%.
Those figures have been ramping up as the big day nears however with official British Monarchy social media feeds streaming the event live on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
