A Facebook page titled "Osama Bin Laden is DEAD" amassed almost 300,000 likes within hours of the first news of Osama's death.

The page itself seems to have been set up well before the report of Osama's death as its info section says, "Osama Bin Laden has not been found and will never be found because he died a long time ago. This may be news to you because it wasn't in the news."

Now, with news of Osama's death breaking the world over, the page is adding thousands of likes every minute.

President Obama announced the death of Osama bin Laden earlier today. It was claimed he was killed outside Islamabad, Pakistan during an operation ordered by President Obama.

No class. At the risk of misquoting, 'be ferocious in battle, magnanimous in victory'. Scenes at the White House remind me of Tripoli, Baghdad and Cairo. People aren't too different from each other wherever you go.

Doesn't it strike anyone else, that an event with such a serious subject matter as this, being boiled down to the number of 'likes' on a bloody Facebook page, might just be trivialising things a bit.

Well I pay little heed to Facebook 'Likes'. My Facebook 'Friends' would click 'Like' on a jobby if I prompted them to.
