Dom Rodwell has left Manchester agency GyroHSR just a few months after joining as creative director, The Drum has learned.

Rodwell moved to Gyro in January after a year heading up the digital team at fellow Manchester agency CheethamBell JWT.

When asked about his departure by The Drum, Gyro confirmed: "Dom and Gyro have agreed to part company. It was all very amicable and we’ll be continuing a working relationship."

Rodwell will now become creative director at new Manchester agency Play, based close to his old employer CheethamBell on Quay Street.

When Gyro told The Drum of Rodwell's appointment last December, managing director Danny Turnbull hailed his arrival as the culmination of a long search to find the right creative director.

Turnbull said at the time: "This is the single most important hire we could make and we’ve not been in a rush to jump into it.

"It took us a while, but we’ve found him. We’re thrilled.”

It now appears as though the agency will have to resume its search. A Gyro spokesperson said: "We're looking."

Classic case of an agency that can't walk the talk, hiring a CD that can't walk the talk.

I don't understand why an agency like Gyro didn't just hire a proven C.D. with a track record for creating good through the line work, it's not rocket science.
