Anne Mensah, head of independent drama and drama Scotland has joined BSkyB as head of Drama.

Mensah will replace Elaine Pyke who was promoted to director of programmes for Sky Atlantic.

Mensah, who took on the role of head of drama at BBC Scotland in February 2006 was promoted to head of independents in April 2009 where she oversaw the development of independent drama across the UK, as well as in-house and indie drama development and production in Scotland.

She had previously served as executive producer for BBC Drama, North and was involved with Waterloo Road, Reichenbach Falls, Bodies and Sweeney Todd, as well as River City and Made in Scotland.

At the time of writing it is not known whether BBC Scotland would be looking for a replacement.
