VW launches campaign for Amarok pick-up

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched an integrated marketing campaign for the launch of its Amarok pick-up.

Running across outdoor, press, online and retail activity along with social media and mobile, the ‘Knowledge is Power’ campaign promotes the new Amarok which officially went on sale Monday 9 May.

A dedicated YouTube channel features a 360 degree viewer and films demonstrating the Amarok’s use of power when it demolished a 140 tonne steel tower.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK marketing communications manager Mark Hopkins said of the launch: “The new Amarok is packed with power and intelligence, and brings Volkswagen standards of quality and efficiency to the pick-up market.  We wanted to achieve something extraordinary to demonstrate this for its launch, and by working with the right experts and taking a scientific approach to demolishing a 67 metre steel chimney, we’ve shown the maximum strength and power of the Amarok.”

The first film is exactly like one of those demo films you get playing on an instore TV in shops like Wilkinsons or Homebase showing the amazing new sponge based wall painting system or cloth that can soak up 2 litres of spilt liquid.

The second looks like the Belgium version of Top Gear, seems similar but is incredibly boring and flat.

I couldn't agree more anon 13:56, I can only assume this is pitched at the Red Neck Americans, I for one just laughed at the scenarios. Driving like a demon on dirt tracks, WHY! pulling a branch off a tree, WHY! (I can do that on my bike) and I'll bet the pallet landed on the deck at the first roundabout, oh no there wouldn't be any in America.

Before anybody else does I might as well say it.... ANORAK... totally for anoraks and dull no matter how intense the soundtrack.
