The new locally focused news programme from STV for Edinburgh is to launch on 23 May.

The 30-minute tea-time programme will be fronted by Juliet Dunlop and produced and presented from Edinburgh featuring Scottish national stories alongside local coverage.

Sports news and weather forecasts will also be included, presented by Caroline Henderson and Sean Batty respectively.

A new west of Scotland programme will also be produced from Glasgow and launch on the same day, presented by John MacKay, with sports news from Raman Bhardwaj and weather reports from Sean Batty.

The current news programme broadcast to viewers in the STV North licence area will continue to air from Aberdeen.
Gordon Macmillan, head of News at STV, said “The introduction of more localised news services for the east and west builds on the success of STV’s micro-regional bulletins which are frequently the most popular part of our news programmes.

“Based on this, and the early success of STV Local, I’m confident that the new services will be well received by our viewers who will appreciate these local news broadcasts, produced and presented live from both Glasgow and Edinburgh," said Macmillan.
