The High Court has again refused to overturn the super injunction preventing newspapers to print the name of the Premier League footballer who is said to have had an affair with former Big Brother Imogen Thomas.

The Sun argued in the High Court that it was now pointless preventing newspapers from publishing the footballer’s name in connection with the extra marital affair after his identity was widely discussed on Twitter and the Sunday Herald printed his picture on its cover.

The judge however denied any u-turn saying that Parliament may wish to change the law, but that courts were obliged to apply it.

He also questions whether the court should ‘buckle’ every time a law met with ‘disobedience’.

At 3.30pm today Culture Select Committee chairman John Whittingdale will ask Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt to set out the Government's position on "granting and enforcement" of privacy orders.
