A website with the aim of preventing the sexualisation of children will be developed in the coming months following the release of a report commissioned by Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Bailey Review, carried out by The Mother’s Union, has called for more protection for children through an improved TV watershed, currently in place for 9pm, as well as criticising explicit adverts, videos and TV programmes for their ‘sexual images’ surrounding children.

As well as a website to allow parents to complain about the ‘pornificiation’ of children, music videos should also be handed age restrictions, with Cameron also saying that he will look to impose a block on adult content on mobile phones, as well as ban billboard posters that are considered too adult from being placed near schools and prevent the use of youngsters to promote products.

Cameron will also look to hold a summit in October with retailers, advertisers, broadcasters, magazine editors, as well as senior figures from the video games industry and the music industry, alongside the regulators, to discuss the progress of the proposals.
