Terry Bryan, the former nurse who helped reveal severe abuse at a care home near Bristol has announced that he will be launching a website dedicated to helping fellow whistleblowers.
The news follows an investigation of the Winterbourne View care home facility in Bristol by journalists from the BBC’s Panorama programme.
The show uncovered shocking scenes of care home workers abusing disabled residents.
Mr Bryan had earlier reported incidents of abuse to the facility’s senior management and to the Care Quality Commission.
However when no action was taken by either party he felt that he had no choice but to contact the Panorama programme.
He said he now wanted to help people like him to "be believed".
"They need to know that the [whistle-blowing] process is going to work in their favour," he said.
"I need to say to people, 'you can come through the other end."
Four people have been arrested and thirteen people have been suspended since the programme aired. Castlebeck, the company that runs the home has apologized and is conducting an internal review.
