Ad agency Finch goes into liquidation

Finch, one of Liverpool's best known advertising agencies, has fallen into liquidation.

After 25 years in business, during which time it worked on the branding for Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations, the agency was put into voluntary liquidation by its directors as a result of the tough economic climate.

Founder and director Tim Crutchley told the Liverpool Daily Post: “We were getting work from clients on a project-by-project basis rather than retainers – many now have their own in-house marketing departments.

“Add to that cutbacks in the public sector and it meant that we eventually couldn’t sustain the resource that we had.”

Today's news comes almost a year after Finch rebranded itself as 'Finch: The Advertising and Content Agency'. That new positioning coincided with the arrival of Peter Kellet, whose own Liverpool agency Peppered Sprout closed in May 2010.

No one at Finch could be contacted when The Drum called the office this afternoon. It is understood that the agency employed eight staff.
