Kaye Adams sparks gay TV controversy

Kaye Adams sparks gay TV controversyKaye Adams sparks gay TV controversy

Presenter and broadcaster Kaye Adams has ignited a debate over discrimination in the media after claiming that it was easier for gay men to get ahead in her profession over their straight colleagues.

Explaining her controversial views Adams noted that family life was not conducive to the hectic demands of her line of work.

In an interview the broadcaster opined: “The people who are successful in my profession are those with no commitments, who can… just give themselves over to the job.

“It’s no surprise that the group who tend to prosper in London are young gay men.”

A non-plussed Alan Wardle, director of gay rights group Stonewall, hit back however, accusing Adams of peddling gay stereotypes.

Why is it controversial to discuss this subject?
It's a point of fact. There are more gay men (and women) in the industry than other professions.
Good on Kaye for making the point but the PC brigade will now want her immediate sacking for discrimination...FFS.

I recall in the green room of a TV studio before recording a quiz show appearance, a gay staff member discussing with a researcher how he thought in his words 'the gay mafia' were taking over.

But Kay Adams and the rest of those horrible 'Loose Women' types have changed women for the worst.

Can't believe I'm saying this but... well said Kaye. You just have to look at the weather reports after the scottish news on STV or the BEEB, jobs for the girls.

Is what she said anything to get overheated about .All she seems to be saying is that folk with no family ties are able to get on in her profession more easily than
those with. Is that not likely to be the same in other types of work as they are considered to be "mobile" and they themselves have less to consider when looking for or are offerred work? . If she had left out the "gay" word would her remarks have attracted so much attention ( if they have apart from Stonewall)
