A new approach to sustainable production for the creative industries is set to launch in Bristol next week, to help businesses become more sustainable, work smarter and reduce their environmental footprint.

Think Future Now aims to find creative solutions to environmental issues. It is being developed by an expert group that is led by Bristol Media and includes representatives from Forum for the Future, South West Screen, Bristol City Council and a number of media professionals.

Launching on Monday 27 June at the Paintworks in Bristol, Think Future Now will provide a combination of web resources and hands-on facilitation, to help companies combine creativity, business and sustainability.

“Think Future Now focuses on the ‘triple bottom line’, a recognised sustainability concept that creative+money+impact is the future, and the aim is to get ready for it now,” said Paul Appleby, chair of Bristol Media.

“Our launch event on 27 June will build on the designers accord model of town hall meetings, a fabulous collaborative model for finding creative solutions to environmental issues. Internationally recognised as a platform for creative thinking, this is the first time this model has been used in Bristol.”

Appleby denied that the project will just be a talking shop and that the organizers intend to come out with ideas, projects, relationships that will propel the scheme in the future.

Monday’s launch event will feature participation from Forum for the Future’s Fiona Bennie and Richard Smith, sustainable production manager at the BBC, as well as other creative industries professionals that are leading the way in sustainability.

Think Future Now aims to help creative companies connect with new ideas, win more business and smarten up their act to succeed in the sustainable future.

It will provide a mix of events and hands-on facilitation supported by website that will provide business-driven engagement, contacts and actions.
