With all the talk of a social media stock bubble, this remarkable money-rich result in just 24 hours is worth noting.

Not a bit of it , as a story in this morning's Wall Street Journal makes clear. Tiny GSV Capital Corp, a $50 million fund just two months old, made what seemed a modest investment on Monday, said the paper - "plunking down $6.6 million to purchase private shares in Facebook."

Investors went crazy. "They pushed up shares of GSV by 42%, adding $14 million in new market value in just one 6.5-hour trading day, more than twice what the investment fund had paid," said the WSJ.

Michael Moe, GSV's chief executive, said he was surprised shares of his investment fund zoomed so much.

"With stocks, I always expect the worst but hope for the best. But Facebook is just something that everybody has interest in and it's something that everybody wants access to."

Facebook shares have traded recently in the low to mid $30s, valuing the company at $70 billion to $80 billion. Many of the Facebook shares are being sold by former employees, as were Mr Moe's.

The five-person operation located next to a local pub in the t Silicon Valley town of Woodside, went public on April 28.

It purchased 225,000 shares of Facebook at an average price of $29.28. and Facebook now represents about 15% of the fund's portfolio. Mr. Moe said he was proud of getting the Facebook shares for under $30 a share. In recent auctions they have reached $35 a share.
