Scottish Pixar film Brave hires Patrick Doyle for soundtrack

Brave, the Scottish animated Pixar film, has asked Glaswegian Patrick Doyle to create the soundtrack.

Doyle, who has worked on 45 films, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and recent film Thor, has not seen the finished film yet, which is due in cinemas next summer.

Part of Doyle’s research has included trips to the Hebrides to listen to unaccompanied Gaelic psalm singing, in order to get into the setting of the film.

The film tells the story of Princess Merida (Kelly Macdonald) and her disagreements with her parents (Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson) over how to live her life.  Kevin McKidd, Robbie Coltrane, Craig Ferguson and Julie Walters are also said to star.

A teaser trailer, featuring music by Doyle, is now available.
