Roberts trials online video campaign

Regional bakery brand Roberts has launched an online video, one its first pieces of marketing, in an effort to grow brand awareness.

The online video, created by The Raft, has been produced as an experiment for the company in the hope that it may go viral.

It has run on the baker’s website as well as going live on youtube earlier this week.

Carolyn Chadwick, marketing manager for Roberts Bakery said that the company was also promoting its at events such as the Chesire Show and at the International Cheese Awards at the end of the month.

“It’s a little bit of a suck-it-and-see type of trial. We’ve not done anything like it before. We’re using it as a bit of fun and we’ll see how it catches on,” added Chadwick.

The online video follows a competition launched by the brand in May asking chefs to submit bread based recipes where the winner would be invited to the Cheshire Cookery School for a Master Chef-style cook off.

At least they've had the good grace to admit they "hope it may go viral" rather than prematurely suggesting they've "made a viral"

The idea that it would go viral though is laughable.
