Festivals Edinburgh has appointed James McVeigh as its new head of marketing and innovation.

McVeigh will begin his post on 1 August, having most recently serviced as a senior manager with Arts Council England where he was involved in the development of its new national funding programmes.

He had also head management roles with Salisbury International Festival and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, while having involved in developing various festival programmes and partnerships, including the European Festival Research Programme.

“Leading the strategic direction of Edinburgh’s Festivals is a fantastic opportunity and I’m delighted to be joining the team at Festivals Edinburgh at such an exciting time.  With the London Olympic Games and the Year of Creative Scotland being celebrated in 2012 there are some really exciting projects coming up and I look forward to bringing my knowledge of the arts and a love of festivals to the role,” commented McVeigh.

He takes over the role from Martin Reynolds who joined the 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee as head of marketing in April.
