Young Scot has relaunched its national youth information portal, designed to give young people access to high-quality, up-to-date and reliable information and opportunities.

The original www.youngscot.org was launched over 10 years ago and has grown so it now receives around half-a-million page requests every month. Though the site has been re-skinned over the years to keep the design fresh, this was the first time that the site has been completely redeveloped since launch. The new website takes a much more visual approach to content and is fully integrated with social media tools, meaning young people can share information with their friends, like articles via Facebook and retweet links through their Twitter accounts. It also gives young people the chance to engage and interact with Young Scot’s services in realtime, and have their say on the biggest stories of the day. Gregor Urquhart, communications director at Young Scot, said: “We listened to what young people told us they wanted to ensure the site is one they find appealing, relevant, reliable and easy to navigate. The new site brings not just a fresh new look to youngscot.org but a whole range of new possibilities. Development is still underway and young people can look out for more exciting updates over the coming months.” Simon Wall, director at Storm ID, added: “Together we set about establishing a site that was very much created ‘by young people, for young people’. Consulting with young people provided Storm ID’s creative team with ‘real life’ feedback throughout the design, development and user journey processes but also empowered young people in contributing to the look and feel of their website."
